A sinister, savage and sensational spin-off of Skye Warren’s USA Today Bestselling Endgame Series…

Like most lovers of the Endgame series I was heartbroken when it ended. It really did leave a gaping hole that I doubted could ever be filled. So, when it was announced that Damon was going to get his own duet… well, I was over the freaking moon! Damon was such an enigma in the Endgame series, you kind of got to know him as a secondary character (Gabriel’s mate), but at the same time you just knew that there was more to him than meets the eye. In The Castle, I knew that I needed more Damon. Certain situations just kept him at the forefront of my mind and gave me that undying need to get to know him personally— one-on-one.

The King is nothing short of haunting. It is very true to Ms Warren’s writing style, and although Gabriel Miller is still haunting me to this day something about Damon took it to a whole new level. I have to admit that the pair of them are fighting it out in my head and heart… But, this book gave me palpitations of all kinds. There were moments that I was reduced to tears, and there were moments that I was shaking with anger and grief, then there were moments that I had to roll my tongue back up and pick my jaw off the floor due to the consuming passion and insanely hot play.

Penny in a way is what makes this story haunting, she’s damaged and vulnerable— BUT, she has this strength that completely awes. You can’t help but build up this admiration for her because she’s not whiny and petulant. In some ways I found that I empathised with her more so than with Avery (Endgame)… and the funny thing is, that I downright loved Avery down to my bones. I still absolutely do, love Avery— that is, but Penny has worked her way in so deep that I found myself crying tears for her. Here is the crux of this book you won’t know how to really feel about Damon, much like Gabriel he’s the good bad guy, you want to love him deeply but you won’t actually be able to determine whether to love him, hate him or quite simply just pity him. He’s a tortured soul, and due to that a lot of his actions are jaded. He’s the superhero, prince and villain all in one.

I was completely blown away by this book. This every bit the sinister, savage and sensational romance that Skye Warren composes. I was unable to put The King down, from the moment I opened it to the moment I read the very last word I was absorbed into every word. I wasn’t given any choice but to live this dark fairytale with both Penny and Damon. I really cannot wait for The Queen. Although I’m dreading coming to the end of this duet, I simply need it… I need closure of some sort. I’m craving that light at the end of this very very dark tunnel…

The price of survival…

Gabriel Miller swept into my life like a storm. He tore down my father with cold retribution, leaving him penniless in a hospital bed. I quit my private all-girl’s college to take care of the only family I have left.

There’s one way to save our house, one thing I have left of value.

My virginity.

A forbidden auction…

Gabriel appears at every turn. He seems to take pleasure in watching me fall. Other times he’s the only kindness in a brutal underworld.
