A witty rom com that is full of warmth and passion…

Queue a hell of a lot of laughs. My abs are still sore from the workout this read provided. I can’t think of the last time I actually laughed this much with a book. Although I knew that Writing Mr. Right is a romantic comedy, I did not expect it to be as funny as it was. It really made me Laugh Out Loud. I may have pee’d my pants a few times. What? I’ve had two kids playing kick around with my bladder! You may want to hold back on the beverages during this read. It gives Piss MySelf Laughing a whole new meaning!

Writing Mr. Right is definitely a different read to what I normally indulge in, however, it really did make me feel light and happy. The nature of the plot is lighthearted, and in my opinion it’s what makes this book so special. The heroine, Molly, is quite simply a nutter. If she were a real person, there’s no doubt that she’d be the type of person that I’d be friends with. She’s really eccentric when it comes to love and her feelings on it. Think Samantha Jones— Sex and the City. Although she may not initially be everyones’ cup of tea, she really grows on you. She’s sassy, adventurous and quite simply outrageous! As for Noah, well… Noah, Noah, Noah… I absolutely loved him. Although every bit the alpha hero he has so much compassion and tenderness… patience. He really does have the patience of a saint. Their chemistry is something rather encompassing, and given the plot’s lighthearted nature, it really is consuming. Saying that, the sexual content is actually relatively sparse— but scorching hot all the same. At first I found it a little strange, for lack of a better word, due to Molly’s adult author career. But that thought didn’t last very long for me and in actuality I found that it made the book even better than if it were sex heavy.

One thing that I feel I need to relay— although hilarious and upbeat, this plot does contain some subjects that may hit a bit too close to home for some readers. There is an element of seriousness with Molly’s family and past issues. Personally, I found that it balanced the book and made the plot relatable, as well as the characters empathise-able. But, that somewhat sobering element made certain aspects of Molly’s mentality a little easier to understand and even be empathetic towards it.

I have to say that I can’t get this book out of my mind, and I often find myself smiling or even laughing at certain moments in it. Yes, it does make me look a little crazy to any onlookers, but quite frankly I just don’t give a flying fart in space. I haven’t read any of TK Leigh’s previous books, but that will be fixed pretty quickly. I understand that thriller is her main genre, if so, she really should write a lot more rom coms! I cannot praise Ms Leigh enough, and hope that this is not the last we see of her snarky, witty and hilarious side!

About the Book

My name is Molly Brinks, but most people know me as Vivienne Foxx, bestselling author of chance meetings, stolen glances, and the much-needed happily ever after. My addictions include coffee, home improvement television, and the occasional pint of ice cream. The love of my life is an eighty-pound labrador retriever named Pee Wee. At the age of twenty-nine-plus-one, I am at the top of my game…professionally. My personal life is a completely different story, one best left untold. Success has its sacrifices and I’ve been more than happy to put my search for Prince Charming on the back burner while I create fictitious tales of the naïve virgin, the broken girl with a torrid past, and the strong-willed student finding their own Mr. Right… Until one hell of a case of writer’s block and a tight deadline set by my publisher forces me outside my cozy downtown Boston apartment in search of inspiration.

Armed with an account on every dating website out there, I devise a plan. Meet some nice, professional men. Go on a few dates. Hope one of them has the spark I need to finish my book. Then walk away.

But plans are meant to be broken.

My name is Molly Brinks, and this is my story about Writing Mr. Right.
