A sultry, action packed, fast paced and scorching hot Military Romance with a whole lot of BANG

All hail the Queen of guns and six-packs…or are they eight packs? Every. Single. Time a Cristin Harber book hits my kindle it’s like all my special holidays, birthdays and orgasms rolled into one. FML, my hands are still shacking with excitement over Locke and Key… there’s a lot of nervous energy going on, good energy… I may implode. So… Locke Oliver – firstly let’s just get one thing straight Cash Harrison is MY Titan guy (I absolutely blame Cristin for my deliriously swoony Cowboy fascination… obsession… whatever is…), anywho, it would take a miracle for any other Titan macho to take his place – although, Javier from Delta… can I just have them both? It doesn’t have to be at the same time and I’m open to sharing – I think? Maybe. I can give it a whirl. Anyway, Locke. Locke. Locke. LOCKE. Well, he came so close to knocking Cash off his pedestal. He was broody, wild and he bites! Someone, fan me, please! Combustion is about to happen…

As with all her books Cristin’s plot development is impeccably flawless. I was completely engrossed from beginning to end. Not just because Locke had me eating out of his hand, but because as with all her stories every single twist and turn was crafted to perfection and with the soul purpose of gripping you. There were more bam bams and pop pops than in a Daddy Yankee and Pitbull rap put together. I’m not even going to pretend that my favourite part of this book wasn’t the heart attack inducing action, because that would just be a stupid thing to do – on my part. Locke is hot headed and domineering and sexy… Back to the action, a lot goes on in this book – I think this plot is probably one of the most sophisticated ones to date because you have the most heartbreaking backstory, you have the present story and then there’s the Alex’s tragic backstory and present story. The genius of this book is that all four stories are all so well interwoven and the flow is just on pointe that although the story is told from three perspectives it is still an easy plot to follow.

When it comes to her characters, Cristin Harber always fails to disappoint. Although I clearly have my favourites, there’s not one single character of hers I dislike. OK, so maybe I hate the bad guys… obviously, because if there’s one thing Cristin always makes me want to do – it is kick the baddies butt. Actually, the sentiment is a little more violent and out of control… but hey! I found Cassidy just amazeballs. She kind of reminds me of Nicola, a red headed blue-green eyed version. I loved that she was tough and brazen (in a good way). There are some facets of her that show just how much of an alpha-female she is. In short, she is EVERYTHING a Titan heroine should be; strong, smart, tenacious, savvy and drop dead gorgeous. I’ve had a girl crush on Lois Lane for forever, and Cassidy Noble has well and truly taken her place.

I know I’ve said this already but Locke is really just gobsmackingly wonderful. You know when you were little and you would lick something to make sure no-one else would touch it because it was marked as yours? Well, there were moments that I was like… I want to lick you. I need to lick you. Mine! Although, I wouldn’t want to cross Cassidy, but everything has its risk – right? I think the reason why I loved Locke so much is because he’s somewhere between Cash and Javier but with a little Jared thrown in… I need to invest in air-con because open windows are not enough any more! He has the whole alpha-male thing bolted tight, but at the same time he also has these moments of emotional vulnerability that make him so endearing and they soften him to the point that you feel those “strings” tie you to him.

I loved that although the majority of the story focuses on just Cassidy and Locke, the other Titan guys make an appearance and they instil this sense of familiarity. There were these moments of nostalgia for me of where the core guys are developing the newbies and it just had this heart-warming feel. I don’t know, maybe it’s my maternal side coming out – but again there was this sense of character development to the Titan series in general. When it came to Alex, I didn’t love him – but, because you have his backstory that is sad and tragic in a way I couldn’t think of him completely as a villain… or the bad guy. Maybe I’m going soft. I blame motherhood if that is the case.

Cristin is the kind of writer who really embeds a part of her heart and soul in everyone of her Heroes and Heroines. She has this easy going and sultry sass that makes you completely lose yourself within her world. I don’t think there will ever be another author that writes guns, sex and heroes like she does. She had me feeling like I was in a pressure cooker the whole way through Locke and Key with the sexual tension and the scorching chemistry between Locke and Cassidy. Yet, the sex plays such an emotive pivotal element within the story that although it is explicit and HOT… arousing even it is also another element of character and plot development which Cristin uses in an ingenious way.

I absolutely ADORED Locke and Key. It’s right up there with Garrison’s Creed, Sweet Girl, Sweet One and Delta: Revenge. Although it is the twelfth book in the Titan Series, it can be read as a standalone. I’m just going to pre-warn you though, this series is more addictive than a tube of Pringles. Reading one will only give you the need to read them all!

Once you’re in, you’re in. Titan for life.

About the Book

There’s only one person to blame for darkening the last years of Locke Oliver’s military career: Cassidy Noble. And damn if he doesn’t have to save her from the side of a frozen mountain.

Even after the job is done, he can’t shake the woman from his thoughts. He blames her for the deaths in his Army unit so many years ago, and he’s not ready to let that go. It’s driving him to the point of distraction, and now his Titan Group boss says to get his act together or get out.

Cassidy is a disgraced journalist, once accused of treason—Or she’s an American hero. It depends on who you ask. She’s on a mission to rebuild her name and started with a simple question but discovered a complex web of spies and possible human trafficking.

Titan Group believes in her.

Locke does not. Until he can’t deny the truth any longer about the past or what she’s uncovered in her investigation.

Cassidy volunteers to go undercover. Locke would do anything to stay by her side as she slips into the network and is sold to the highest bidder. All is going right until everything goes wrong. Nothing is as they expect including falling in love with the woman he thought he hated.
