Lose yourself completely in euphoric, sensual and erotic pleasure…

I’m always happy when I come across a new author. I’m even happier if the first book of theirs I read hooks me. After that I’m just plain old addicted. When it came to Eden Summers, I hadn’t actually read any of her books – naughty Marta, bad girl! – but, I was aware of her. I have her on my TBR Author list, but that thing is so long it’s going to take me yonks to get through that baby. Anyway, when I was given the option of reviewing A Shot of Sin I jumped at it… obviously, duh! The title alone got me… SOLD! And, FYI Union of Sin is getting hammered ASAP – that’s the second book in the Vault of Sin series and it’s all about TJ… I so want to cuddle him… with him… aaaaahhh

So, it took me a bit of a push to get into the book. At first some of the lingo was just bugging the crap out of me. I hate the term/word wench. It’s such a medieval word that just does not need to make an appearance in a contemporary romance. Unfortunately it was used quite a bit in the first few chapters and I actually wanted to poke my eyes out and throw my kindle across the room. It’s rather dramatic, but certain words trigger certain things in me… like, jizz. That sucker makes me laugh my butt off. It’s not very mature, but what can I say. I’ve got to stay young somehow! Anyway, the joy of A Shot of Sin is that X and Y have met and gotten dirty and now they just need to get filthy. If that makes sense? No, well… basically Leo has already had his fingers in Shay’s lady garden… in the stockroom of his bar no less! Shocking! Not really… I’m in a funky mood – too much coffee. The joy of that having happened before you open the book is that you get straight to the bantery and feisty angst that makes this book so so so great. At first Shay grated on me a bit. I like forward… I like confidence, but she just comes off really desperate and it kind of put me off her a little. But, can I just say that she makes up for it as the story progresses. Leo on the other hand, at first I was bit like meh… I seriously just wanted TJ or Brute in the picture more than him… but again, as you get to know him you can’t help but fall for his charms… and talents. I can totally see why Shay went crazy over the fingers.

Character progression wise, in my opinion it’s very well done and the characters are pretty bang on. Although this is somewhat a short story you really get to build a ‘relationship’ with not only the main characters, Shay and Leo, but also with the secondary characters – Brute and TJ. Have I said that I’m dying to get my mitts on their stories? Although, it seems that the only one available as of yet is TJs. I’m not quite sure whether to categorise this story as instalove because, well, they haven’t just got together… there’s a four/five year build to it. So, even though they get together pretty quick in the book, their ‘thing’ has been going on a while… a long while. Can I just say that I’m so so glad that that was the case, because the whole trusting a guy enough to do you in a sex club… with its members watching thing would’ve been really hard to grasp if they had just met. That level of trust needs time to build, so Eden nailed that. I know that there’re a lot of authors that can be a bit loose with the trust, and that bugs me because it’s just not a feasible concept. Sorry. So yes, the story was extremely well plotted and the continuity is bang on the money. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves when the continuity is off.

All in all, I think it’s fair to say that I really REALLY enjoyed A Shot of Sin. It was everything I wanted it to be, and more. It was hot and sexy and sensual. It was brilliantly paced and it made me want more. It had every opportunity of becoming a sex fest with no emotion, however Sumers’ writing is exceptional and that right and wrong pull in the story is beautifully done. It was also great to read about a sex club that isn’t just about BDSM. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy said book sex clubs, but it was good to have a lighter side of it. I’m so so happy with this book. I’d say that this is a fabulous book indeed!

About the Book

Throw back a shot of pure pleasure.

Leo Petrova has a dirty secret that’s about to get blown wide open. The exclusive VIP area hidden beneath his night club, Shot of Sin, is short staffed a bartender. The only available replacement is Shay—his temptation, his distraction—the sole woman he refuses to escort down the secret staircase. She has no clue about the private adult club that lies beneath her feet and he’d prefer to keep it that way. The Vault of Sin is the only place he can let his sexual proclivities run wild and he’s learned the hard way that Shay is too virtuous to be comfortable in the erotic environment.

Shay Porter is curious as to why her boss, the king of mixed messages, seems almost desperate to keep her from discovering what’s on the other side of the guarded door at the back of the building. But she’s never backed down from a challenge before. Sliding into Leo’s arms and this new world of carnal exploration is addictive yet frightening. She could lose her job, her self-respect, and her heart.

Exposing a vanilla woman to a sorbet lifestyle isn’t something Leo’s business partners approve of. Secrets are at stake. Friendships, too. And through it all, neither one of them can ignore the wicked taste of sin threatening to tear it all apart.

Warning: This sex club does not carry the government’s stamp of approval. Contains devilish debauchery, delightful deviance, and dancing on the edge of the darkest of sexual desires.

Please note: This book was previously released by Samhain Publishing. This new edition contains a few slight tweaks as well as a new setting for the series.
