A gorgeously funny and heartwarming Rom Com…

I’m not quite sure where to start with Grounds for Seduction. Maybe I should say that I abso-freakin-lutely enjoyed every bit of this story. Yup, I definitely enjoyed the plot. It’s every bit the sunny-side up that I love. It was humorous and it had heart. It’s the sort of book that you could just lose yourself to on a crappy day and it would make you smile. So, it’s not this flawless and sophisticated plot – although, the story is developed brilliantly – it is just feel good. There’s a good amount of corn and a sweltering amount of heat. The character development is on point and you actually empathise with them.

Gabe’s character is multi-faceted and charming. He has you from the get go – even if he does play hard to get. Maddie again is a well explored and dimensional character. She’s strong and independent, however she still has this feminine vulnerability and allure that makes her sexy and sassy. Both Maddie and Gabe are individually great characters, however when they interact it’s like the story gets a bounce in it’s flow. Their chemistry and passion pace the story beautifully and keep the reader completely hooked.

In all honesty, I’ve never been a fan of a third person narrative – I find it impersonal and it tends to create a distance between myself and the characters. HOWEVER, although at first I struggled with it – it soon changed. I found that it gave the plot a wonderful flow and that it made the interactions between Gabe and Maddie more meaningful as you were aware of mutual feelings. One aspect that I was dubious about the narrative working for – and that I normally have trouble getting into with a third person narrative – was the sexual interactions. My doubt was unfounded and in this story it worked so  so well. The sensuality and steaminess was unmistakable to the point it was scorching and phenomenally arousing.

Grounds for Seduction was so pleasantly surprising. Especially because I have never read a Shelli Stevens book before, I can guarantee that I will be reading more from this lady! I was gutted there wasn’t an epilogue, I’m hoping that maybe just maybe there may be more from Gabe and Maddie. I think the chance of it alone gets my heart all fluttery!

About the Book

Madison Phillips is focused on making her new coffee shop a success. She also wouldn’t mind if the sexiest cop in Seattle, Gabriel Martinez, would start seeing her as more than just his best friend’s little sister. When her shop gets robbed and she’s the only one who can identify the increasingly violent Espresso Bandit, Gabe’s there to keep her safe. Having Gabe act as her personal bodyguard is certainly no hardship, and Maddy’s ready to try anything to tempt him into providing some hands-on protection.
