In our home we are constantly on the go. As a family we are up between 7am -7:30am and from the time we wake up to the moment we go to bed it is go go go… So, when it comes to feeding Mylo (our little 7 month old munchkin) I like to keep it quick, simple and easy. I am not one of those mothers that makes her own baby food all the time, however, I still like to make sure that he is getting the best nutrition that supports his mental and physical development. I’m not an Organic obsessive, but when it comes to the boys’ food I like to keep it as organic as possible – especially if it is pre-prepared food. Maybe this is me over compensating because I am not cooking it myself at home, either way this my preference.

These are my five go to brands that offer everything I am looking for. I wouldn’t say they are in any specific order as both myself and the boys love them equally, however the first four are definitely our favourite favourites! I have explained why down below…

  1. Ella’s Kitchen

I love love love Ella’s Kitchen. I find that Mylo will eat pretty much ALL of their pouches and they will never have an adverse reaction on his tummy. His favourites are the Spaghetti Bolognese and the Bangers and Mash. He also really enjoys the Veggie Moussaka, Bubble & Squeak and the Fish Pie. When it comes to fish dinners both of the boys are really difficult to get anything down, however, they both love this particular brand’s fish meals. Yeeeepy! EK is also 100% Organic and it was set up by a fellow parent ( a daddy!), I also like that it likes to give back to the environment and local communities… they definitely get a MASSIVE *thumbs up*!

2. Piccolo

This is a relatively new brand, and so I have only tried it with Mylo. I really like that their purées are thinner than most. At first I was a bit unsure about the consistency as when I first introduced them to Mylo a lot was wasted due to how thin they are. HOWEVER, now that he is used to spoon feeding runnier purées, he cannot get enough. For him the flavour was never the problem as he never pushed it out of his mouth it just sort of oozed out as he was ‘chewing’. The are no bits in any of their purées, as far as I know they only do stage 1 – which is a shame 🙁 – however the flavours are so creative and interesting an I find that it almost hooks the baby’s palette like a moreish smoothie. Again this brand is 100% Organic and it was set up my a mummy. Their values are Nature, Nurture, Nourish.

  • Nature,  it is 100% organic.
  • Nurture, they donate 10% of the profits to food education charities.
  • Nourish, they encourage young palettes to explore new tastes.

One thing that I find incredible about this brand is that all of their pouch recipes are available online, so you can make your own, I haven’t seen this with any other brand before. Even when they have brought out cookbooks! Mylo’s favourites are Squash, Red Pepper & Chickpea with a hint of Rosemary and the Apple & Apricot with a hint of cinnamon. One thing that makes me ADORE this brand is that due to it’s thinner consistency Mylo will eat it even when he is bunged up and phlegmy, and if Jasper is having a no food day I can hand him a pouch and he will devour it as a smoothie! This is real good Mediterranean baby food in a flash.

3. Annabel Karmel

I love all things Annabel Karmel; books, apps, ready meals, baby pouches… she is the original mumpreneur and she delivers every. single. time. It’s no surprise that all her baby food range is organic… woop woop… Both of the boys LOVE her food. Mylo’s favourite is the stage 2 Tomato, Sweet Potato and Cheese sauce with her pasta shapes, if he is having a sicky day where he is a bit bunged up he will eat the sauce on it’s own no problem (calories are calories, after all!). Jasper’s favourite is her Mild Chicken Tikka and Rice Ready Meal. She is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Her brand is I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E.

You can find more about her baby food range and try out some of her recipes here.

4. HiPP Organic

If you have read my post on weaning (it’s right here) you will know that I swear by HiPP Organic for both of my boys. They have a purée for every taste bud. Till this day Jasper is still a lover of their Ristorante La Mamma Lasagne and Cannelloni and Mylo is a sucker for their Hearty Cottage Pie and their Mild Tomato and Chicken Curry. You cannot go wrong with their food and it is available EVERYWHERE. It comes in pouches and in jars.

You can find out all about the HiPP Organic farm to baby process here.

5. Cow & Gate Friends

This is the only non organic brand, however it uses baby grade ingredients which are specifically grown for babies health and enjoyment. To me the Cow & Gate brand can be hit and miss for the boys. Their jars in general don’t agree with either Jasper or Mylo, however, these Friends pouches do. I don’t know they have done differently but these just sit with them. Both times that I tried to introduce different C&G jars to the boys they were violently, projectile sick after a few spoonfuls, but with these pouches they both finish them just fine. The Broccoli, Chicken & Rice and the Cauliflower, Cheese & Pasta are Mylo’s favourites.

If you want to know more about the Cow 7 Gate smart Friends weaning process you can do so here.

I do have other brands such as Organix that I love, however, I tend you use more of their snacks range. I will do a post on snacks at a later date.

I want to leave a quick note to let you know that I am in no way affiliated with these brands. My kids love them and I love them! That is all.

Let me know in the comments what your favourite baby food brands are so I can check them out too!
