As a mum I am constantly looking for ways of making memories with our boys. Since we had Jasper we are constantly taking photos and preserving outfits worn on special occasions. I have kept their first outfit (both Jasper and Mylo wore the same one), all their christmas eve, day and boxing day outfits, birthday outfits, first shoes, etc… So it goes without saying that I have kept Jasper’s christening outfit too! There is something so special about christening outfits, I don’t know what it is, but seeing a baby in one just melts my heart… so cute! I had hoped that Mylo would wear Jasper’s little Sailor Christening Romper, but the outfit was already a little snug on Jasper’s legs and considering how chubby Mylo’s legs are it’s just not going to happen – not to mention that the outfit probably wouldn’t fit him now!

With Jasper’s christening outfit being small on Mylo I have now started to look for Mylo’s own. I know this sounds silly, but we really want to get something to put into his memory box that one day when he has his own babies they can wear it too… maybe… that’s a long way away though… so hopefully!

Christening outfits are not the cheapest, normally because the fabric tends to be luxurious and special like silk. I definitely think that they are worth the investment, after all you can’t put a price on special memories.

Here are a few ideas:

You can shop these gowns from the Adore Baby shop or on

You can shop these from a selection of brands on

You can find these lovely outfits on from a range of different designers such as Ralph Lauren, Dior, Armani, Tartine et Chocolat, Little Darlings, Sarah Louise and Aletta. These are definitely more high end with prices ranging between £30-£650, however they are very detailed and they would be the star of the show without any effort. Their selection also offers outfits for every type of christening; traditional, modern, low key or big affair, and also every age; newborn, 0-12 months, toddler and even 3years+

This selection is from John Lewis. I find that JL are great at offering great quality and luxury on a budget, and I have to say that they delivered it with this collection as it ranges between £5 – £99 and the gorgeous gowns are all 100% silk! The only down side is that the gowns only go up to 9-12 months.

A little note: Since first publishing this post, we did order the JL Unisex Gown (1st one above). You can find a review here.

Marks and Spencer are definitely the most limited of the lot, however, they are still budget friendly and luxurious. With a price range of £10-£60 you cannot go wrong!

If you want something a little more special and are willing to splurge, does a bespoke service. As you can see from the specimen above, they are just divine. Retailing between £105 – £880 their gowns are to die for and you can see that they are a truly luxe item.

As for Mylo, we are opting for the John Lewis Gown for the ceremony and the John Lewis Romper for the reception.

I hope you guys enjoy these as much as I do!
